The UKF7003AXX Maytag PuriClean refrigerator water filter was designed for Maytag and Jenn-Air side by side refrigerators. The UKF7003AXX filter replaces the smaller capacity filter UKF7001AXX and the UKF7002AXX. Maytag eliminated the UKF7001AXX and now uses the UKF7002AXX Filter under the new part number of UKF7003AXX. The UKF7003AXX has a capacity of 416 gallons of filtered water. The Maytag PuriClean® Filter ensures the highest quality water and ice for you and your family.

The Puriclean® family of filters reduced the following contaminants in your water:

  • Lead
  • Cysts
  • Chlorine
  • Off Tastes
  • Unpleasant Odors
  • Sediment
Replacement Instructions: (Please also refer to your refrigerator's Owner's Guide)

NOTE: Leave the refrigerator door open while removing and installing filters or plugs; this will prevent water from flowing through the system and running into the refrigerator compartment.

As an added precaution you may turn off the ice maker (behind the door in the upper part of the freezer) by moving the wire lever arm into the up (OFF) position. Remember to lower this arm to resume operation of the ice maker.

Replacing The Filter Cartridge

  1. Twist the filter cartridge 1/4 turn counter-clockwise (as views from bottom) so the ears on the cartridge are able to disengage from the head. The unlocked symbol will be lined up with the indicator line that is molded into the light shield area.
  2. Pull down gently on the cartridge to prevent any water from spilling inside the refrigerator. Do not tip the cartridge to prevent any water from spilling inside the refrigerator. Dispose of the cartridge.
  3. Carefully remove the filter from its packaging. Remove the red cap. Lubricate black o-rings with vegetable oil.
  4. Apply the month sticker to the cartridge as a reminder to replace the filter within six months.
  5. Line up the cartridge ears so that it can be inserted into the filter head. The unlocked symbol will line up with the indicator line that is molded into the light shield area. Insert the cartridge into the head. Twist the cartridge 1/4 turn clockwise to lock it into place. You will feel a stop and the locked symbol should now be lined up with the indicator line.
  6. Close the refrigerator door.
  7. Dispense water through the dispenser for 10 minutes to purge the system.
  8. Open the refrigerator door and check the filter head area for leaks.
